Women's Professional Rodeo Association WPRA

Started in 1948 as the Girls Rodeo Association, the WPRA is the oldest women's sports organisation in the United States. It approves barrel racing at PRCA rodeos nationwide and runs its own events through the WPRA Tour and the Roping Division, where breakaway roping is the headline. Because most WPRA-approved barrel races sit inside a PRCA rodeo, much of its calendar overlaps the PRCA schedule instead of standing apart from it.
